All year long individuals & organizations celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, & fight back against the disease. Fundraisers take place all year long, while we educate each other about the struggle we make with our loved ones.
Cowlitz/Wahkiakum Relay for Life is the largest fundraiser in our area. Relay for Life 2011 will take place Saturday August 13-14th from 10 am to 10 am at the Cowlitz County Fairgrounds. Whether you are there for a few hours or the entire 24 hour event, if you walk 1 lap or 100, if you meet one person or an entire team of people your life will be changed. There is nothing like this event. The air is thick with camaraderie, goodwill & most of all hope. Hope that we will live to see less cancer & more birthdays.
This year there are 88 teams for Relay for Life. These teams include friends & family that have fought & won & fought & lost the battle with cancer. They also include local businesses like:

We encourage you to join us for the luminary; an event that there are no words to describe. Live music will be presented throughout the event by many, including Raeann Phillips. Of course Mr. Relay should be a lot of fun…if you are there at 3 am Bruno’s Pizza always delivers! The Electric Bean will be giving away water & there are family fun activities scheduled all night long too!
This year Exclaim Media was the only videography company that was asked to capture footage for Relay 2011. We are thankful for the honor, but even if we weren’t holding a camera, we would be there. Why do we do it? Because we are so thankful for the people in our lives who have won or lost their battle with cancer! Nana, Grandma Clemenson, Aunt Elaine, Arleen Hubble, Betty Erickson, & Brenda Courser (to name a few) make the world more amazing every day they keep surviving! Grammy & Cricket we will never forget you!
